Good Morning! I’d like to introduce you all to Jamie. She’s a very special 7 year old. Jamie was diagnosed in June 2008 with Benign Rolandic Epilepsy (BRE) after suffering a partial seizure early in the morning. Jamie has a younger sibling who nearly died a year ago from a different condition and was taken to a children’s hospital over two hours away. Knowing how hospitals and tests can make a child feel lonely and fearful, she wanted to do something special to help other children with epilepsy who were hospitalized. That’s when Angels4Epilepsy was started. Since February 2010, Jamie has been taking great joy in earning money, saving her Happy Meal toys and putting together gift bags full of toys, snacks and well wishes in cloth tote bags the hospitalized children can keep.
I have a 7 year old son myself, and I so admire Jamie’s determination and desire to help others. Jamie has submitted her cause to Pepsi Refresh Project to be considered for a $5,000 grant. With that grant she would be able to purchase supplies for her gift bags and bring cheer to more children. Right now Jamie is ranked #31 on the Pepsi site, and only those who land in the top 10 by August 31st will receive funding.
I’d love to see Jamie win, so I’m asking my readers to vote. As an incentive for those of you who are giveaway fanatics (like I am!), you can earn FIVE BONUS ENTRIES DAILY into my Target Box Tops giveaway and my Hooked on Phonics Master Reader giveaway. Please comment that you voted on the Target giveaway post or the Hooked on Phonics post, not here. In order to vote, you need to create an account on the Pepsi site, but it’s very easy. I really appreciate your help!
